Ground Current
When lightning strikes the earth, the ground trembles. And when Red Riot Unbreakable and the Stun Gun Hero collide, their hearts quake. Ground Current Fest is an 18+, proship, OTP and OT3 event dedicated to celebrating the love and chemistry of Kirishima Eijirou and Kaminari Denki, in any and all forms.
Prompt submission begins September 16th.
What is Ground Current?
This event is a fest. In a fest, participants can submit prompts for others to fill, as well as fill prompts that have been submitted. This differs from an exchange or a bang, because the ratio of prompting to prompt filling is not 1:1. You could submit as many prompts as you like, but any prompts left unchosen would remain unfilled. Think of it as kind of like an exchange, but creators are filling out ideas, instead of receiving art or a fic in return. In that way, it's more like a gift event, where you're giving the gift of more content, and your repayment is the fun of the experience!
Other questions will be answered on our FAQ.
Mod Team
Mod Twen
Graphics & Writing MOD
They/them
Twen created the structure of our event, even down to the forms that we use to keep track of participants and prompts. Without them, we would be unable to conduct this event. They have written extensively for KiriKami in the past, and participated in numerous zines.
As a prolific writer (though they'd never admit it) and a dyed-in-the-wool KiriKami enthusiast, Twen is incredibly excited to conduct this prompt fest with everyone. They have a huge soft spot for idiot best friends to lovers, so KiriKami caught their eye the moment they started watching BNHA. Now, we are incredibly grateful that they were willing to put their organizational know-how to use in producing this event!
Ever since entering the BNHA fandom, KiriKami has been Zen's flagship pairing. They got into the ship by chance when a friend asked them to write a short KiriKami piece, which spiraled into a 30-page short story. Ever since then, they've jumped on board and never looked back. Their favorite part of the pairing is the mutual understanding between Kirishima and Kaminari. But even if it's not KiriKami content, Zen is a tireless cheerleader with boundless enthusiasm for their fellow fans' works.
Her first event in the BNHA fandom was the KiriKami Mini Bang, and she's loved the pairing since day one. Though she is relatively new to the fandom, she brings with her the expertise she gained from other fandoms, especially in short-form writing. She's participated in numerous zines and is looking forward to contributing to the ever-increasing body of KiriKami fanworks once more.
Intern Mod Dan
Technical & beta mod
he/him
This is Dan's first time helping to run an event, but he has participated in several others, including a zine and the KiriKami Mini Bang. Dan helps us with the technical aspects of the event, including testing all of our forms, our carrd, and other resources to make sure they are beta'd and working properly.
Dan came into KiriKami through previous events dedicated to the pairing, and found joy in their lovable personalities. According to him, "Who doesn't want to see two sweet guys hanging out together?" We couldn't agree more! He has written over 70k for one KiriKami story alone, so you know that he means business.
(Dan is contactable via the Discord server only.)
rules and faq
1. YOU MUST BE 18+ IN ORDER TO JOIN THIS EVENT. When you sign up for the Discord, this will be a question in your form. Don't be a jackass. Tell the truth. If you're a minor, do not sign up, because if we find out, we will kick you from the event.
2. If you want to claim and fill prompts, you MUST have Discord and join the Ground Current server. This will help the mods keep track of all the event data.
2. This is a proship-friendly space. You might encounter prompts with incest, lolicon, dead dove, rape, or other problematic themes. If this bothers you, don't participate. During prompt submissions, you will be able to note down squicks/triggers so that whoever fills that prompt will know not to write themes and tropes that make you uncomfortable.
3. Though OT3s are allowed, please make sure that the main focus is on KiriKami. For instance, if you write a KiriBakuKami fic, but a significant amount more writing is dedicated to the BakuKami side, you will be asked to revise your piece. Bearing this in mind, make sure if you submit a prompt that it feels balanced as well.
4. Both artists and writers will be allowed to participate. In fact, if you want to participate as a writer, and an artist, and a prompter, you can be all three! Conversely, if you just want to provide prompts instead of fill them, you can do that too.
5. There is no WC minimum/maximum, and no requirement for the art. You can only manage a drabble or a sketch? Go for it! Just make sure that you keep up to date with checkins and our final posting schedule.
6. Self-prompts are allowed. So, if you want to create and fill your own prompt, you can. There will be more information on how to do this come time for prompt submission.
7. Collaboration will also be allowed. We are still figuring out how this will work, so keep checking our Twitter for updates!
FAQ:
How does a Fest differ from an exchange or a bang?
Fests are not a 1:1. If you submit a prompt, you're not guaranteed to have it filled. However, you get to submit as many prompts as you want.
Can I claim more than one prompt?
Yes, but you can only claim one at a time. So, if you want to work on a second prompt, you will have to finish your first, submit it to the mods, and then you can claim another after the mods give their approval.
How will the prompt submissions and claims process work?
Prompts will be submitted via Google Forms, which will then be added to a Google Sheet. Participants can then submit a claims form during the claim period, selecting their top three options. Noting your top three helps ensure that if your first choice is claimed, you will get your second or third choice.
Are prompts first-come, first-serve?
Yes. Please keep an eye on our Twitter account and our Discord so that you know when the prompt list goes up. The main mods are in either the EDT time zone or an hour ahead of that. If you can, plan accordingly.
Will we be posting on a schedule?
No. We will not have phased posting. Instead, creators are welcome to post any time during the posting week, and we will retweet those works over the course of the week using our Twitter account.
Will there be a collection?
For fic writers, we will have an AO3 collection that you can post to. For artists, there is not a comparable option, but we might look into finding a digital gallery that artists can add their works too. We'll keep you posted, and shoot us suggestions if you have them!
Are prompts submissions anonymous?
If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can! However, if you want to list your name or Twitter @ on the prompt, you can. This would allow participants to tag you in the final posting. If you prefer staying anon, though, we will be retweeting all the content for this event on our Twitter, so you can find everything regardless of whether you're tagged or not.
What if all the prompts get claimed, and there's nothing left for me?
That won't happen! If we find that the prompt list is running short, the mods will inject their own submissions to make sure no one is left behind. As an alternative, you can also self-prompt! Creating and filling your own prompt would be a great way to keep from getting left out, if all else fails. If you still can't find anything you like, though, feel free to talk with us and we will help you find something.
Can I submit more than one prompt?
Absolutely! Submit as many as you like. Just be aware that none of your prompts are guaranteed to be filled. We will have a small participant base, so it's unlikely that everyone will receive a work, even if they submit a prompt. We hope you understand.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us via DM or through our CuriousCat! We will also update this carrd as is necessary to keep you abreast of any changes.
